2011 East Coast Trip

We officially cap off the busy part of our summer.  It has been such a blessing to have the opportunity to see so many of you this summer.  We truly loved our time in California and back East.  Thanks for all the encouraging times of fellowship and fun!  We sure missed Cornerstone Fellowship this year and it was such a blessing to be with you all.

It is nice to be back in our “home” (well… our current place of residence)… after being out of suitcase for 65 days, setting foot in 12 states, and having slept in 11 different beds… it will be nice to relax for a short time here before classes start back up.  🙂

Here is a quick recap on our East Coast trip:
This year we finally made it out to the East Coast where Pete has an entire side of family and childhood that Bree hadn’t yet experience.  What a fun time it was!  We started out by heading to upstate New York with Pete’s mother and younger brother to visit his Uncle, Grandfather, and cousins.  Then it was off to Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts where Pete has cousins who live on a fully functional family farm where they are known in the region for their pure maple syrup and bagpipes! While at the farm we were able to catch Meghan’s beautiful wedding.  Then we drove to wonderful Cape Cod, Massachusetts!  Pete has a very rich and deep heritage on the Cape as his family line can be traced back to the one of the original five families who settled Cape Cod.  While on the Cape we were able to be a part of Pete’s grandmother’s burial who had passed away recently. Later we drove to Waterford, Connecticut to be a part of our good friend’s beachfront wedding.  Congrats to Sam and Juls Bradley.  Lastly, we spent a few more days on the Cape before heading for Boston and on to Milwaukee for one last school year here in Wisconsin.

Here’s to another great year!

Cheers,

2011 Summer Update

Well our time in California has come to an end.  We have cherished all the great times and conversations that we had with so many… but we are sad that we did miss fellowshipping and catching up with some of you…

If we didn’t have a chance to see you and catch up, here is our new Summer Update for you!  We would also LOVE to hear from you!  We would love to hear what God has been doing in your life!

2011 Cali Summer Trip

Wow has time flown!  It seems like just yesterday we were finishing up our last days of training for our sophomore semester at NTBI!  Yet here we are packing to head out to the East Coast for a few weeks before heading back to Wisconsin for one more year.  It went WAY to fast!  Well… here is a quick snapshot of our time in beautiful California!  We arrive in late May and enjoyed some family time and reconnecting with friends in the Livermore/Brentwood area.  We were offered a BRIGHT red Volkswagen Beetle to use and drive around.  We were able to get to a beloved Giants game and enjoy Pete’s Birthday with a sunny BBQ.  We hang out with Cornerstone Brentwood Youth Ministry for their end of the year events and took nice walks with the family in the vineyards of Livermore.  We flew down to San Diego to visit Bree’s little brother, grandparents, cousins, and aunt and uncle for a week and a half….  Can you say beach time?!?!  After we returned from San Diego we went up to Hume Lake with Cornerstone’s Youth Ministry.  Bree hung out with Diane and Caden while my little brother Jeremy and I went camping and survived on hot dogs and sunflower seeds.  Upon our return from Hume we had a chance to be apart of our dear friend Heidi’s wedding, attend a baby dedication, and enjoy some Cornerstone VBS in Brentwood.  What a fun time in the place we love!  Thanks Cali… see you next summer!!!

Home Again – a MK Documentary

I recently came across this new documentary being made about MKs in Denizen – Third culture Kids Magazine.   Julie Englander, a Chicago-based journalist, is currently filming a documentary on Missionary Kids returning to the U.S. and adjusting to their supposed “home culture.”  She just released a film demo and I am really excited about it!  A lot of the film centers around the MK reentry seminars that Barnabas Int’l and Mukappa Int’l puts on every summer!  In fact, we are excited about an initiative currently happening through Mukappa to help raise the funds needed for these very vital retreats!  It’s called “A Buck and a Stamp” and is a REALLY easy way to get involved and help make these seminars available to as many MKs as possible.  So what are you waiting for?… check it out and send in your dollar!!!

Check out the Demo!

Spring Break in Utah!

Bree and I had an Amazing Spring Break and we are sad to see it come to an end. We flew out to Salt Lake City, Utah to visit some of Bree’s family.  Her grandparents drove up from Southern California, Bree’s older brother Ryan, his wife Connie and their 2-year-old son Cannon drove down from upper Idaho, and of course the Trostrud family who live there in Utah who made it all possible!  What a blessed time of fellowship, rest, and laughter!  Not to mention the brilliant views of the Salt Lake valley that never cease to impress.

So here we are back at school for two and a half more weeks before summer break!  We are counting down the days to get back to California and spend time with all of you there!
