“Mish Kids” Documentary Series

I recently came across a British documentary series called “Mish Kids” which was about the identity crises of teenage missionary kids in England.  I think they only made three or four episodes and I don’t think the series ever made to it television.

Company for Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone!  This year we were blessed to have five MKs come over to share Christmas Day with us.  We related with these guys as their families are currently living overseas and they didn’t have family to spend Christmas with! Along with enjoying a true white Christmas, we all had a blast as we played games, watched Christmas movies, and ate a fantastic feast that Bree cooked up.  Among other games, we played “worst-case scenario” which is a survival trivia game.  It was a perfect game to play with MKs as the questions we easy as most of them had experienced the scenarios in their childhoods overseas!  It would ask questions like, “How do you cross a Piranha infested river” and the guys had lively debates saying things like, “well, usually I tried crossing at night as long as I didn’t have an open cut!” It was hilarious to listen to them talk about their experiences.  We all had a blast and it was great company for us as we were missing family back home.  Thanks for the company boys!

Do the Agutaynens Celebrate Christmas?

Yes, they do.  In many ways it is similar to how Americans celebrate Christmas.

For example, there is caroling.  Agutaynens come in groups of about ten people, along with their instruments, which might be a guitar or a banjo (not unusual if the instruments are missing a string or two).  They will sing several Christmas songs in Agutaynen, which is very beautiful.  When they are done, we usually give them some Christmas cookies and Coke….  (READ MORE)

Scott Phillip – Interview

This is an interview that my good buddy Chris Jones put together.  Chris, and his wife Evie, are currently finishing missionary training and are  preparing  to head overseas to do tribal church-planting in Indonesia.  Chris and Evie had a chance to hang out with  Scott and Jennie Phillips who are missionary’s working among the Dao people of Indonesia.  They have been working in the Dao tribe for several years now and God has been doing amazing things!  Check out this great interview as Chris asks what he can expect as he and Evie head to the mission field.

Make sure to check out their websites!

Moi Tribe – Testimonies

In the past I shared this video with you about the Moi tribe called AYAYO:

However, NOW you need to check out this exciting new video that shares the stories and testimonies of the Moi people as the Word of God has reached the Moi Tribe!

The Moi church in Indonesia has increased greatly after missionaries heard testimonies from more than 80 Mois who declared their faith in Christ when the Gospel was presented the end of September.

For seven weeks, people came from more than 20 hamlets, leaving their homes and gardens so they could hear eight Moi Bible teachers and missionary Rich Brown present the Creator’s Talk.

The total number of believers now consists of more than half of the adult and teenage population within a days hike from the village that first heard God’s Word.

PNG Independence Day

Bree and I had a great opportunity to fellowship with many Papua New Guinea (PNG) MKs and New Tribes PNG staff on September 16th for the 35th annual PNG Independence Day!  PNG gained independence from Australia in 1975 and enjoys an extravagant celebration every year.  The PNG MKs are used to watching and participating in giant celebrations where many tribes come out to demonstrate their special elaborate decorations, dances, and rituals.

This year, we all got together at a local park and had a traditional “Mu Mu” meal which usually consists of pig, chicken, greens, and vegetables.  Some even brought coconuts and demonstrated how to cut it open “PNG style”.
