Supporting Church Planting in the Unreached
Pete here…
This morning I woke up at 5:45am to skype with a mentor/friend of mine who serves in the Philippines. Since our chat I have been thinking about how important solid male mentors have been in my life.
Through the years I have been incredibly blessed with men who have taken me under their wing. They took the time to invest into me and help guide me. Some went out of their ways to meet with me regularly, some coached me in sports, and some just led me through example. My goal is not to get gushy here…… I mean we are talking about MEN after all…… but I can’t help but realize that I have had some great guys around me encouraging me in my successes and encouraging me in my failures. Theses guys are far from perfect… and some of them may not even know that they have been instrumental in my life. Some just lived their lives around me in such a way that impacted me for the better.
This reminiscing has me really thinking about my own footprints and has got me asking questions: who am I having an impact on? Am I intentionally pursuing younger guys which I can mentor? Am I leading by example? …You just never know who is watching and learning from you.
Who are your mentors?
Who are you mentoring?
This holiday season Bree and I got a special gift! Bree’s little brother Sean has decided to attend the New Tribes Bible Institute with us this coming semester! What was even better was that he wanted to come early and hang with us for Christmas and New Years! Since it’s a long and boring drive from California… plans were made for Pete to fly out and join Sean for the road trip to Wisconsin.

First, Pete flew to Northern California for a few days to visit his family and friends as well as a chance to update our supporters. Then, Pete flew to San Diego where Sean and he started the trek. They traveled the southern-most route through AZ, NM, TX, OK, MO, IL, and finally into WI and made it just in time for Christmas Eve!

New Tribes Mission is involved in many countries around the world to expand the reach of the gospel. Here at New Tribes Bible Institute, we are uniquely situated to have an incredible wealth of these countries and cultures represented embodied the students and staff. Bree and I were able to be a part of the team to host an event here called “Represent Event!” Represent Event is to highlight these countries and celebrate them through food and dress. Students and staff brought food dishes and dressed up from cultures they grew up in. Whether hailing from Brazil or full blood southerner; countless countries and cultures were represented. We have students from across the country, over 70 MKs from across the word, and a staff who have all spent years serving overseas.
The dishes were everything from West African Hibiscus Tea (served in bags that you bite the corner off of to drink), to Wisconsin Cheese Curds!
Many dressed up, from Tribal Papua New Guinea to NFL jerseys.
We had every continent covered except Antarctica.
This unique quality of our school that is worth celebrating! The purpose of “Represent Event” is to celebrate these cultures, grow a better appreciation for the students that attend NTBI, and appreciate the incredible diversity that we have here which serves to enrich our time at NTBI.
This last week I had the opportunity to check out a PULSE Event in Milwaukee. Pulse is the fastest student-led movement sweeping the nation. It focuses on reaching the college generation for Christ.
It was an Evangelic outreach concert with bands such as Lecrae, Tedashii, KB, Family Force 5, and Flatfoot 56. It was incredible. We at New Tribes Bible Institute have been gearing up for it and inviting students in the local colleges/universities, and had an amazing turn-out. The Bands where top-notch and the music was BLASTING. However, the message was CLEAR. The gospel was given thoroughly. Not only did Nick Hall illuminate the gospel clearly, but most the bands took time to clearly give the reason they live for God’s glory. It would be easy to hold an event like this and share the gospel as a “tack on”… but this was not the case. The gospel was front-and-center from start to finish. Check out this video!
I was excited to be a part of this night and am thankful that Pulse knows this is not a one-time deal. They had great tools setup for next steps and continued discipleship in place. They partner with countless churches so these college students can get plugged-in and find a local church body to call their own right away.
From what little I have experienced of this ministry, I thought it was great. Check out this little snapshot of Pulse and see how you can get involved.

Great post on ntbi.org by one of the MKs here with us at New Tribes Bible Institute.
Truth and lies – by Angie Holmgren
As a missionary kid growing up in a remote tribe in Papua New Guinea, God blessed me so much with being able to see clearly the difference between God’s truths and the world’s lies. Coming back to the USA was a huge shock for me — seeing how mixed up everything is.
As I have spent the last four years in America, I have grown to understand more and more the importance of truth. I have learned that wisdom can not only be gained by my experience, but other’s experiences.
In order to gain more wisdom, I plan on attending New Tribes Bible School in Waukesha, Wisconsin. There I can learn not only deep wisdom from the Bible, but also facts and truths that can help me battle the lies of this world…… Read the rest at http://bit.ly/lLB0VK
